An Open Letter to the New Peace Corps/Lesotho Country Director

Dear Kathy,

You might not remember, but I met you back in December. I was the one whose favorite Sesotho word was “ditamati” and paid to have you sing “Itsy-Bitsy Spider” in front of the whole village of Berea. You seem nice. Lets be friends.

I live in Mokhotlong, which is far away in the mountains, but the company is good. You should come and visit. I can make you pizza (you supply the cheese) or some gnocchi with spicy sauce or fried rice. I have seating for six, so you can bring up to four other guests as well. I invited Ntate Clement already, so we should save room for him. The more the merrier, really. Just make sure your bring enough cheese for all.

Maybe next time I am down in Maseru, you can invite me over for dinner. I have already been to Charles’ house. It is very nice. He served us Zebra, but you may serve the big game of your choosing.

I hope that you enjoy Lesotho and all the great things it has to offer. But mostly I just hope that we become BFFs.

Your New Best Friend,

Parker Bryant
